Lanvin Spring 2011 - Made as a Second Skin

Lanvin Spring 2011 Ready-to-Wear
Alber's inspiration for the spring Lanvin collection was based on the beauty of the wrinkle. The wrinkle of skin was shown in every which way through the rippled dresses and jackets. The colors - which started in neutral taupes and ended up in bright corals, reds, and yellows - was beautiful and exemplified beautiful dressing for summer. The way the dresses and skirts worked their way down the catwalk was amazing. How sexy would you feel walking around with such a fabulous piece?

Luisa Beccaria Spring 2011 - Bohemian Charm

The models walked down the runway wearing free flowing fabrics in faded colors at Luisa Beccaria this Spring. The overall vibe of the show was very relaxed. I loved the soft floral printed dresses of pink, purple, and cream colors. The cream blouses and skirts were nice backdrops to the angelic outfits. Very girl and feminine - a beautiful way to be inspired for the end of summer dressing.

Valentino Spring 2011 - Subtle Romance

The changes the brand Valentino has made ever since the man himself retired, are in many ways headed toward the right direction. We may not see a plethora of ravishing red gowns hitting the runway as much as past season, however the customer is still responding to more wearable knee length dresses and jacket/short combinations.

In this collection, we still see the frills an thrills that lace and ruffles have had to offer the brand for decades. The customer certainly knows what shes getting when she purchases a unique Valentino piece. The whole vibe has even gone so far as eliciting a very dark edge to the feminine clothes...The consumer will definitely respond to this contradiction as she begins to get tired of the over done ruffles and yearns for a more edgier femininity. These girls aren't just delicate flowers anymore...They are roses with thorns.

Helmut Lang Spring 2011 - Crazed Comfort

Photobucket
The designers for Helmut Land this summer designed a collection that was soft and light. Incorporating airy fabrics and textures in whites, taupes, and greys instilled consistency throughout. Slouchy silk creped lapel jackets were standout pieces for me - they are great to throw on over anything and they wear so easily. The collection is great for those who look for comfort with a sexy edge when getting dressed every morning.

Pucci Spring 2011 - 70s Inspired Cutouts

Emilio Pucci Spring 2011 Ready-to-Wear
The Pucci show this spring season, had a definite 70's instilled vibe. The dresses grazed the floor in psychedelic yet Pucci - esque prints in spiced up browns, indigo blues, and hints of blacks. The designers use of leathers combined with silk chiffon was so unexpected yet so smart for summer. It just goes to show how you can certainly carry your leathers from fall into spring fabrics and dress codes.

In addition to the beautiful bohemian dresses, I took a liking to the skin tight bellbottoms paired with loose fitting hippy tops. The look with the blue flared pants looked so great with the black goat suede button down shirt with front pockets. The clothes were super sexy on the models - such an awesome way of dressing for the summer.

Antonio Berardi Spring 2011 - Romantic Strides

Antonio was having an itch for something a bit softer for spring and summer. Out with the old body conscious looks and in with the lose and romantic. The standout pieces were the sexy dresses and sharp jackets with unconstructed collars. The collection was so sultry with the sheerness of the lace dresses and sky high slits. The softness and mix of the show's neutral colors were ultra appealing to the eye. I like how he paired beiges with silvers, pinks with greens, and even grays with blacks. The fluid movements and stunning silhouettes made for a noteworthy show.

Proenza Schouler Spring 2011 - Feminine Codes for Edgy Souls

The Proenza boys were aiming to find a way to create their own spin on lady chic style. They truly succeeded in using more conservative skirt and dress lengths with their own quirky prints and fabric combinations. The girls' looks were almost an elicitation of what young woman in their twenties WOULD like to wear to work everyday: an oversized croc salmon colored jacket over silk charmeuse blouse and skirt perhaps?

All in all, the Proenza boys have received much acclamation over the years for their edgy and youthful style. This collection for spring might have dabbled in more wearable ladylike outfits, but the show wrapped up with pleasantly familiar lacy tank dresses in sulfur colors - simply cool.

Chloe Spring 2011 - Pretty Little Ballerinas

The girls walking down the runway, with tightly pinned back buns and comfortable versions of ballet slippers, were taking on a ballerina's persona and creating a fashion statement. Every piece, which came in the designers usual beiges and creams, were extremely well made and meant to fit the body perfectly. The jackets had slits up the front with mandarin collars. The most popular look that has been publicized in all the magazines was the bodysuit paired with a sheer below the knee skirt. It definitely shows how sexy a skirt can be below the knee.
